THE SPANISH CERAMIC AND GLASS SOCIETY , WITH THE COLABORATION OF THE INSTITUTE OF CERAMIC AND GLASS (CSIC), WILL ORGANIZE THE NEXT CONFERENCE OF THE EUROPEAN CERAMIC SOCIETY (XIV Conference and Exhibition of ECERS)
The Council of the European Ceramic Society (ECerS) has delegate to the Spanish Ceramic and Glass Society (Sociedad Española de Cerámica y Vidrio – SECV-) The organization of the next Conference of ECerS (XIV Conference and Exhibition of ECerS). The decision was taken during the last meeting of the ECerS Council, which was held in Stockholm the 19th of June. The Instituto de Cerámica y Vidrio will supports this event providing material and human resources.
The Spanish candidacy to organize the event in Toledo was presented by Carmen Baudín, Scientific Researcher at the ICV, Vice-general secretary of the SECV and Spanish representative of SECV in the Council. The President of the SECV, Jorge Bakali, and the General Secretary Emilio Criado, who also is a Tenured Scientist at the ICV, attended the Council meeting to support the candidacy. The tradition and experience of the Spanish society in the organization of similar events was highly valued. By supporting the organization of the ECerS conference, the ICV maintains its interest into the events organized by the SECV which resumes its organization capabilities in international events previously proved in the 1992 and 1993 years with the organization of the International Congress of Glass and the III ECerS Conference.
Its biennial Conference is one of the more important activities organized by ECerS. In it participate some of the most relevant researchers in ceramic from Europe and all over the World . Last meeting was held in Stockholm last June and congregated over 1000 delegates from 56 different countries that presented over 450 oral presentations and 630 posters. In this event the number of Spanish delegates achieved the fifth position.
