In the series of conferences and exhibition organized by the Foundation Pons in the 2010 Science Week, the conference was presented “From lab to production: nanotechnology ceramic tile” given by Prof. José F. Fernández of Ceramics and Glass Institute, CSIC.

The innovation is based on the incorporation of nanoparticles safely on the surface of ceramic tiles. The success of the procedure developed is that it is fully compatible with the conventional current tiles. The unique features of the product consists of having a metallic gloss surface type, hydrophobic and easy to clean. This product is exceptional and there is no commercial product can currently be comparable.
Is a CSIC patent licensed for mass production by companies KERABEN and KERAFRIT to launch the product to market in early 2011.
