The eLITHE project co-funded by the European Union, which includes researchers from Instituto Cerámica y Vidrio (ICV-CSIC), aims to decarbonize the ceramic industry, contributing directly to the European goal of climate neutrality by 2050.

By applying innovative technologies such as microwave-based kilns, hybrid tunnel kilns and advanced melters, eLITHE aims to demonstrate cost-effective and sustainable electrification of high-temperature thermal processes. These technologies will be tested and validated at three demonstration centers in Spain, Greece and Germany.

A key aspect of this strategy is the integration of digital solutions that facilitate the design, optimization and scaling of electric heating technologies in industrial scenarios. eLITHE’s innovations in energy efficiency and industrial electrification can improve state-of-the-art technologies, reducing operating costs and environmental impact.
