Among the activities of the XIII Science and Technology Week organized by Comunidad de Madrid in its 2013 issue, the ICV arranged an open day for visitors hold last 15 of november
This edition there were 126 attendant wich 112 were students of different high schools around Madrid and other fourteen were attending at a particular visitors.
Journey was coordinated by Dr. Angel de Pablos and it started with an introduction lecture about general aspects of ceramics and glasses by Dra. Pilar Pena Castro (Research Professor and Vicedirector of the ICV). Later visitors were divided in eight groups to visit the research facilities of the center accompanied by host personnel.
The laboratories that were visited were:
- Optical Microscopy Lab
- Electronic Microscopy Lab
- Furnaces room
- Mechanical Properties Lab
- Processes Lab
- Technical Assistance Lab
- Library
- Museum of the ICV
During the visit it was explained to the visitors the importance of several characterization techniques on the research activities developed in the center with the ceramic materials and glasses. Also it was organized a casting of ceramic pastes and melt glass to show how ceramic and glass materials are processes for both, traditional and advanced uses.
